DOWNSHIFT TO FILL THE PITS AT JAMBOREE SYDNEY

Date: 21/02/14

Australia’s favourite Sport Compact Drag Racing event, Jamboree, is rolling out a raft of changes in 2014 to help make the event more current and adapt it to a changing automotive landscape, and one such change is the announcement of a partnership with Downshift at their Sydney event, to be held 15 March, 2014.

“The Downshift guys represent a very modern, even forward-thinking, car culture and their event coverage sets an incredibly high standard so it made sense to further develop the relationship we had with them, given that the changes we’ve made to Jambo’ are aimed at making it a more modern event, too,” explains Ray Box from Jamboree.

“Jamboree has always been known as the pinnacle of turbocharged performance and racing in the country and people flock to us for the racing, but in 2014 we’ll be exposing the event to a whole new audience with Downshift by co-hosting the March Downshift meet in the pits at Sydney Dragway, from 4pm.”

With the stands full of racing fans and the top half of the pits abuzz with competitors, vehicle transporters and the general hum of race day, the Downshift crew in collaboration with Sydney automotive lifestyle gurus Zen Garage, Tuned and The LowDown will take over the lower half of the carpark.

“Downshift is all about running some of the largest automotive events and giving enthusiasts a place to enjoy their cars. We try and focus on running innovative and new events, and then also provide the community with event coverage and cool content afterwards through our social media,” explains Matyas from Downshift.

“We’ll be looking at bringing somewhere around 400 cars, as well as contributing to the show’n’shine with some help from Sydney clubs like Zen Garage, the Tuned community and The Lowdown – the idea is that we work with these groups to grow the car scene, and generally bring people cooler events.

Matyas goes on to explain that Jamboree, especially it’s exciting new format, is an excellent fit for Downshift. “I’ve known Ray for a while and have been going to the Queensland Jamboree for years. We got together and spoke about working more closely, and when the chance came up to help in Sydney we knew it would be a great extension of the relationship.”

The result will be nothing short of stunning. “When you look out over the pits at Jamboree in Sydney this March you won’t just see the sun setting over some of the best race cars in the country, you’ll see a host of great street cars, drift cars, show cars and a horde of people, all celebrating the best bits of the modified car culture.”

Jamboree Sydney will shake up the Sydney Dragway Blacktop on Saturday 15th March, 2014. Information for entrants and spectators can be found at www.jamboree.com.au
