VEHICLES ELIGIBLE TO RACE

The Sydney Jamboree is open to All 3, 4, 5 Cylinder, Rotary and OHC 6 Cylinder vehicles. OHC & EFI Turbo V8’s are permitted in the Pro Mod & Extreme classes only but must run 9.50sec or quicker. Any body style, make or year are accepted as long as you're running any of the above engines. Other vehicles maybe accepted at the Jamboree discretion.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO RACE?

To race at the Jamboree, you require the minimum of the following: -

  1. You must hold or have held an Australian drivers licence.
  2. A roadworthy vehicle meeting all class requirements.
  3. An approved crash helmet meeting IHRA regulations is required, refer to the IHRA helmet page for more information. If you are unsure contact Jamboree via info@jamboree.com.au
  4. Long sleeve shirt or jacket.
  5. Long pants.
  6. Covered shoes.
  7. If you have a street car that runs less than 10.50sec click HERE for regulations you'll need to meet. All vehicles running 10.50sec or quicker will require an IHRA Licence & technical inspection. IHRA Australia offers a "reciprocal license program" for ANDRA license holders wanting to compete at Jamboree events. More details are available HERE.
  8. Other safety equipment may be required depending on the performance of your vehicle. Please consult the IHRA General Regulations for full details.

IHRA SANCTIONED EVENT

The Sydney Jamboree is an IHRA Sanctioned event. ALL vehicles racing must comply with IHRA safety rules. If your vehicle does not comply with the IHRA rules you will NOT be allowed to race.

COMPETITOR PASSES

IHRA Licence or photo ID must be presented to collect passes at the gate. Entrant must make own arrangements for distribution of passes.

Note: Using passes and not racing will result in a request for balance of true value of passes, prior to further acceptance of future event entry.

Armbands: Armbands will only be issued in exchange for a (competitor or crew) pass. The total maximum number of passes issued by The Jamboree AUS Pty Ltd for that class or bracket is the maximum number of armbands permitted. All competitors must read, accept and sign the IHRA Indemnity Statement to receive an armband.

All drivers/crew must display the relevant armband at all times.

DRAG RACE SCRUTINEERING

Sydney Dragway uses the IHRA Competitor Audit System (CAS). The Competitor Audit System requires that all Competitors accept responsibility for compliance with safety and classification regulations relevant to their vehicle, prior to the event. The main advantage of this program from a competitor point of view is that it will significantly reduce the time you spend in the Scrutineering Bay.

Once you have entered your vehicle you will receive Competitor Information & Declaration Forms that will explain the system and it’s requirements. All non-IHRA licence holders must still present their vehicle at scrutineering so there allocated race number can be put on their window.

TIME TRIALS / QUALIFYING

As with all Jamboree events, time trials/qualifying will be scheduled like a major meeting at Sydney Dragway. Each class will have specific times allotted for their 3 time trial/qualifying passes. The race schedule will be confirmed after the close of entries on April 18th. At this time the race schedule will be available on the event info page and emailed to each competitor.

Time trials/qualifying will run from 9:30am to approx 3:00pm. It is hoped that each entrant will have the opportunity to have 3 time trials but this cannot be guaranteed.

RACING

Racing will kick off at 8:30am to 5pm (subject to change). Sydney Dragway has a 3 amber xmas tree with a 0.400 countdown, a perfect reaction time is a 0.000. Street Compact, All Motor and Modified Compact will race elimination style on a Dial Your Own Handicap System. Factory Xtreme, Pro Turbo, Pro Compact, J275, J315 and Pro Mod will qualify an 16 to 6 car field racing in a Chicago Shootout Format racing Heads Up with a Pro Tree and ST 289 and Modified 10.5 using a Full Tree.
